THE ART OF CNC PRESSWORK
CNC Press work uses 5 CNC press brakes varying in size and capacity. This is from 1m to 3m in length. We process all types of material with a capacity of 150 tonnes of linear bending. Full CNC control enables high quality and repeatability with continuous in-process laser dimensional checking. Quality procedures ensure pressed components meet customer requirements.
DELIVERING QUALITY CNC PRESS WORK
We develop parts into flat patterns incorporating bend allowances and reliefs. CAD/CAM design allows us to achieve this. This ensures the components will have the desired size and tolerances as per the customer’s requirement. Modern CNC press brakes have facilities to correct bend angles over their full 3m length during the pressing process by the controlled distortion of the bottom tool and bottom bed in order to increase the tonnage at the point between the two vertical rams applying downward bending pressure.
The accuracy of the bend is measured by means of a laser beam that travels the full length of the machine and gives instant feedback so fine adjustments can be made in particular places before the component is removed from the machine. We complete this process efficiently under CNC control and require no additional input from the operator. We use laser beams to guard the machine thus preventing accidental injury to the operator.
BENEFITS OF CNC BENDING
We used to set up every bend on a sheet individually with a backstop and the required tonnage before the advent of CNC bending. This achieved the desired angle.
We design components using the latest technology. Then, we animate them on-screen to check their features prior to being downloaded directly to the machine. Automated setup and operation of complex multiple bends can, therefore, be achieved in one handling operation in minutes.
